The Abysinnian Meeting House


On this date on October 28 ,2007,
the Associated Press reported that a 179-old-building known
in Portland called the Absyinnia Meeting house, used as a major transit point by african american slaves escaping the, had been officially recognized by U.S National Park Service. It is one the few houses remaining following the 1866 Great Fire of Portland, Maine.
