A minor planet called Ethiopia is out there
Recognizing Ethiopia During World Space Week – Oct. 4-10
There is a minor planet in our solar system now called Ethiopia. Discovered by South African astronomer Cyril V. Jackson on August 1, 1937 at the Union Observatory near Johannesburg, South Africa. Jackson is credited for finding 72 siginificant asteroids and minor planets in our solor system, giving them distinctive African-themed names. One of Jackson’s earliest solar discoveries on May 21, 1937 was named Sheba.
A minor planet is signfiicant as it rotates the sun.
Ethiopia’s solar epoch was on May 14, 2008.
